About The Class

The emphasis of the Kung Fu classes is on strengthening your body and increasing your fitness, balance and co-ordination so that you can get your body to move effectively in a fighting situation. This is done through warming up, stretching and practising martial techniques. You don t have to be fit when you join, but you will get fit quite quickly, and soon be using muscles that you never even knew you had.

What am I going to learn?

Initially you will learn the correct way to stand and walk, and different techniques which can be used to defend or attack, employing your hands, feet and other parts of the body. These techniques are linked into combinations and practised on your own, with a partner, and against pads until they become natural movements that you can perform instinctively.

So can anyone join in?

Complete beginners are always welcome. The class is for adults, but children are welcome to attend. If you have any injuries, or anything else which may affect your training, it is important to discuss this with the instructor at the beginning of the class, and we can discuss how to work round this. It is always possible to cut certain exercises and movements out of your training to suit individual needs.
