Unlike many of the other FWC Instructors, martial arts were not a passion of mine from an early age. My parents were always keen for me to learn to defend myself but I used to think martial arts clubs were just full of thugs and egos. I came to FWC as a young adult, having graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Biological Sciences from the University of Sheffield and found my mind yearned to learn something new and my body suffering from years of student life. All that was a long time ago now, I have since been back to university to qualify as a State Registered Dietitian and embarked on a career as such working in the specialist area of nephrology for a large NHS hospital. I have stayed with FWC throughout and have balanced my commitment to training and teaching with my further studies in dietetics, which have included published clinical research for which I was an awarded an MSc.
