From my earliest beginning in FWC Kung Fu I was asked the question 'So what do you want out of Kung Fu?' My answer changed as I progressed within the discipline. It began with being able to take care of myself and good health. It then moved on to wanting to understand the depth and culture of the style, and finally moved on to the need to fully understand the depths of this system.

As I started to grow from strength to strength the question was always there in the forefront on my mind. I am now at the stage where my thoughts are 'What don't I get out of Kung fu?’. Well, that’s one I will need to answer over time.

What have I found whilst practising White Crane Kung Fu, is that the more I do it the more there is to understand. This process of learning and discovery has kept my interest and love of this style new and fresh. They say kung fu can be practised by any age and physical level, with study of this unique style I have found out this is the case.

It has now improved all aspects of my life from mental to physical. I always have energy to push that little bit further and I am never so tired that I cannot think with clarity. I have travelled from Crete to China in my pursuit of martial arts and I can still say that I am practicing the best system. When a physical injury that I had before I joined the club affected my training, my instructor Karim Daoud then gave me precise and effective exercises to resolve the issue. To this day I remember when that knee injury prevented me from using my legs without pain. All my instructor did was sit me down and say ‘You can still train from the waist up’.

I know I have been trained correctly in a style with an impeccable lineage; my experience in this system has led me to deal with all types of people from all walks of life. I am also actively pursuing further knowledge outside of White Crane system to give me additional understanding of the rich depth of Chinese culture.

I now ask you the question ‘So what do you want out of Kung Fu?'.
