About the class

The emphasis of the Kung Fu classes is on strengthening your body and increasing your fitness, balance and co-ordination so that you can get your body to move effectively in a fighting situation. These movements are taught by repetition of your basic stances and the practice of your patterns. This hour session is for those who wish to improve their general or fighting fitness, as well as those wanting to progress in the Fujian White Crane style.

What am I going to learn?

The basis of Kung Fu is the patterns that are sets of movements linked together to form a library of fighting techniques. Initially you will learn your foundation till you start the first pattern i.e. the correct way to stand, and different techniques which can be used to defend or attack, employing your hands, feet and other parts of the body. These techniques are linked into combinations and practiced on your own or with a partner, until they become natural movements that you can perform instinctively.

So can anyone join in?

Complete beginners are always welcome. The class is for adults, but children are welcome to attend. Please contact the instructor to confirm minimum ages. If you have any specific goals or injuries please discuss them with the instructor at the beginning of the class, as it is always possible to adapt certain exercises and movements in your training to suit your needs.
