About the class
Sparring and Padwork is a safe and controlled way to learn to apply your Kung Fu principals. By applying your Kung Fu principals in sparring situations you will gain the confidence and focus required to defend yourself as a kung fu stylist. The class will improve your fighting technique and fitness through sparring, padwork and martial exercise.

Free parking is available at the YMCA Charters Health Club. By Car on the M1: Head north on M1 toward Exit 6 At junction 6, exit onto A405/N Orbital Rd toward M25/St Albans. Turn left at Chequers Lane, Chequers Lane turns slightly left and becomes Woodside Rd. Turn right at College Rd Go through 1 roundabout. The Charters Health Club YMCA Woodlands Centre will be on the right, just follow the path down in the park to get there. By Bus from Watford town Centre (Journey Time 26 Mins): Walk to Watford exchange Road (Stop K). Take the 318 Bus from Watford to Abbots Langley going to the south way. Arrive at Abbots Langley, The Compasses PH (Nr) - Stop ID: hrtagmpw. Then walk south on Tibbs Hill Rd toward Trowley Rise. At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto College Rd, then turn left at Mallard Rd, Turn right at Linnet Rd stay on the road till you get to the centre.
What am I going to learn?
Beginners will initially learn Foundation Sparring where you will learn to use basic combinations and movement against live opponents, improving your overall stamina, health, and confidence. Those that have passed their first grading will be allowed to free spar to build the required skills to apply their trained kung fu principals.
So can anyone join in?
Complete beginners are always welcome. The class is for adults, but children are welcome to attend. Please contact the instructor to confirm minimum ages. If you have any specific goals or injuries please discuss them with the instructor at the beginning of the class, as it is always possible to adapt certain exercises and movements in your training to suit your needs.
