FWC Reading

About the class

Fujian White Crane Kung Fu is taught with respect to its rich heritage and proud tradition, and a view to our modern way of life. There is an emphasis on building a strong and healthy body, with exercises that will strengthen and stretch. Patterns (also known as forms, or kata in Japanese styles) are the foundation of the style and all students will start to learn the Sam Chien pattern. The class is structured so that beginners can join in and learn from senior students as well as training alongside them. It can be safely practiced by all.

What am I going to learn?

Training in Kung Fu will give you a strong and healthy body. The basic training and patterns will give you a repertoire of moves and fighting principles. It will give you confidence in a self-defence situation, but more than that you will find that the discipline involved crosses over into other aspects of your life. Kung Fu is more than fighting. It is the pursuit of excellence, of reaching towards perfection. You use it to better yourself.

So can anyone join in?

The class is open to all FWC Members and non-members are welcome to join at any time. You may find the class quite hard work as everyone is encouraged to push themselves. Don?t worry too much as you will soon find yourself more comfortable with the exercises. The Instructors have experience of teaching students with many different injuries, health issues and learning abilities, so just let them know if there is anything that may affect your training.

Who teaches it again?
