FWC Dulwich

About the class

The Kung Fu class will strengthen your body and increase your fitness, balance and co-ordination so you can move effectively in a fighting situation. This is done through warming up, stretching and practising martial techniques. You do not have to be fit when you join, but you will get fit and flexible quickly.

What am I going to learn?

The basis of Kung Fu is the forms (sets of movements linked together to form a library of fighting techniques). Initially you will learn the first form, the correct way to stand, and different techniques which can be used to defend or attack, employing your hands, feet and other parts of the body. These techniques are linked into combinations and practised on your own and with a partner until they become natural movements that you can perform instinctively.

So can anyone join in?

Complete beginners are always welcome. If you have any injuries, or anything else which may affect your training, it is important to discuss this with the instructor at the beginning of the class, and we can talk about how to work round this. It is always possible to cut certain exercises and movements out of your training to suit individual needs.

Who teaches it again?
